Welcoming leading musicians to East Suffolk for almost four decades
Concerts at Cratfield presents afternoon chamber concerts on alternate Sundays in the summer at St Mary’s Church, Church Road, Cratfield, East Suffolk, IP19 0BU. Concerts include solo recitals, duos and trios through to string quartets and larger ensembles. We’re also proud to support upcoming young artists through our Cratfield Young Artists programme.
Cratfield is a small village in tranquil and rolling countryside about 5 miles west of the A12, close to Halesworth, Southwold, Aldeburgh, and Norwich. You can find directions here.
Concerts at Cratfield - artwork by Andrew Vessey
We are indebted to the Suffolk artist Andrew Vessey for his generous donation of a painting to raise funds to support our outreach programme sending our professional musicians into local primary schools.
Andrew’s picture in gouache and mixed media depicts the windows in Cratfield Church, observed during the course of a particular concert, and instantly recognisable to anyone who has spent an afternoon enjoying the special mixture of beautiful music and architecture in the shifting summer light at St Mary’s Church.
“As the music progresses, so does the sun and the shadows of the leadwork are cast on the reveal and across the cill.” Andrew said.
The painting will be on display at each concert, with tickets on sale in the form of a raffle.
